Friday, November 28th – Galveston to San Benito, TX

Today was planned as a longer travel day so we set off a little earlier than usual not expecting too much traffic because of the holiday.  Well the best laid plans of mice and men…..  We got about an hour from Galveston, heading west just outside of Houston when traffic came to a grinding halt!!  An hour and a half later we were back up to speed.  There had been a very serious vehicle accident and the Police had closed the road.  All 5 lanes of traffic were being routed to a parallel service road for about a mile via one lane.  It was very tight quarters because of all the transports and congestion, etc. but we made it through and on our way.  However, it did delay our planned arrival in San Benito by a couple of hours.

We arrived at the Fun N Sun RV Park in San Benito about 5:30 PM, set up, and visited with some of our friends from the Titanium trailer group that were spending the winter in this park.  Doug gave us an introductory tour of the park.

Fun N Sun is an older park that was really not built for the size of the RV’s that are being pulled and driven today.  Some of the sites can be a little small, but they are updating the sites and services throughout the park.  The park does have lots of activities and the staff is very good!!
